Passion For Priorat & Penedés

3-Night Pre-Cruise Package

Day 1 |Independent Arrival In Barcelona

April 30, 2018

After settling into your room, you will join your fellow group members in the hotel lobby before the evening’s tapas walking tour.

It has been said that Spain owes much of its status as a mecca of progressive cuisine to these small plate dishes; Spaniards will try anything once – as long as it’s small! At each stop along your route, there will be a glass of wine and one of the famous small plates waiting. The tour ends back at the Hotel Colón, where you can retire for the night or continue along with your newfound friends.

Day 2 |Penedés Wine Region & Parés Baltà

May 1, 2018

The 200-year old Parés Baltà winery is a Penedés favorite for Food & Wine Trails and one we’re excited to share.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a family member with a glass of the region’s famous Cava and then transported in one of their four-wheel drive vehicles for a brief tour of their spacious estate that includes a mountain ridge and a gorgeous view of the Mediterranean Sea. Following that, you will enjoy a tasting of four of their wines then a leisurely multi-course Catalan lunch paired with their still wines.

Day 3 |Priorat Wine Region & Ferrer Bobet

May 2, 2018

Twenty-five years ago, this isolated territory, high in the hills of Catalonia, was virtually unknown to most of the wine-drinking world. Today, wines from this region command some of the highest prices of any Spanish wines. First, you’ll tour Ferrer Bobet, a stunning new winery built hanging from a cliff.

Next up is one of the region’s original wineries, Clos de l’Obac, where you will meet its gregarious owner, Carles Pastrana. His wines are elegant, with lots of aging potential. Carles will host a private tasting and wine-paired luncheon.

Day 4 |Barcelona City Tour / Embarkation

May 3, 2018

After check-out, our four-hour city tour of Barcelona will take you to one of the city’s most celebrated attractions, Gaudí’s famous unfinished cathedral, Sagrada Familia.

Sagrada Familia is one of Gaudí’s most impressive works. The rippling contours of the stone façade make it look as though Sagrada Familia is melting in the sun, while the towers are topped with brightly-colored mosaics which look like bowls of fruit.

After a scenic drive around the city, your tour ends as you arrive at the pier where you will board the ship in time for lunch and the beginning of your journey…

Port |Palma de Mallorca, Spain

May 5, 2018 | 8 am - 3:30 pm

On this exclusive tour, you will have the opportunity to taste the wines of this Mediterranean seaside region where you can trace winegrowing back to approximately 123 BC.

A little over thirty minutes from port, you will come to your first stop, Mesquida Mora Winery. One of a handful of female winemakers on the island, Barbara Mesguida also represents the fourth generation of winemakers in her family.

Next, travel to the base of the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains, to the oldest winery on Mallorca, Bodegas Ribas, established in the year 1711. You’ll meet the owner of the winery and enjoy a select tasting of the estate’s wines, followed by a special wine-paired lunch at the winery featuring exquisite Mallorcan cuisine.

Port |Livorno, Italy

May 7, 2018 | 8 am - 4:30 pm

Spend a day ‘under the Tuscan Sun’ and visit one of the few wineries in the world that can boast a perfect “100” rating from Wine Spectator!

Start the journey in the medieval town of Bolgheri, to wet your palate with a tasting of wines from three different Tuscan coastline DOC regions.

Continue on to one of the most celebrated Tuscan wine estates, Tenuta dell’Ornellaia. Begin with a walking tour through the estate’s famed Bellaria Vineyard, stand under its 150-year-old oak tree, and hear the history of this beautiful and unspoiled land. You will experience their “quality without compromise” integrity first-hand during a tasting of several of their varietals, followed by a traditional Tuscan four-course lunch at the winery paired with a selection of current releases.
